Wait on the Lord

Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord. (Psalm 27:14)

Do you wait on the Lord when you are in trouble? If you do, then he will bring you strength, comfort and joy in due time. When adversity hits, do you crumble in despair? When tribulations overwhelm you, do you forget that the Lord your God can silence the storm with a blink of his eye? The Psalmist teaches us to wait. Not once, but twice does he repeat it in one sentence. Wait on the Lord. Because when we do, and when we display courage and trust in the Lord, our hearts will prevail, and we will be strengthened. The Psalmist does not say that our problems will go away, but what will happen is that our hearts will be strengthened in the face of them.
