Curve Ball

Sometimes life will throw you a curveball. Something can unexpectedly happen that might change your life or switch your routine in a frustrating manner. One day you have a job, the next day you might lose it. One day you have your health, and the next day you might lose it, and so forth. The reason for our frustration when things suddenly change or when they do not go as planned is because we fail to realize that whatever we do, must be according to God’s will. We can plan all we want, and we can scheme for the future in detail, but if God is not on board with your plans, they will be derailed.

Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit”; whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that.” (James 4:13-15)

Let us realize that we are limited in knowing what will happen tomorrow, and that there is not even a guarantee of tomorrow. Things will happen in our lives only when it is God’s will, and God has the authority to change our plans to be in accordance with his will.

“A man’s heart plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps.” (Proverbs 16:9)

Anticipate life’s curveballs and be prepared to make or change plans in accordance with God’s will. God’s will can be revealed to us through prayer. Do not be frustrated when things go wrong, and accept that it is part of God’s plan for you. Sometimes God will redirect us and when one door closes, another will open.
