Deny Yourself

Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.” (Matthew 16:24)

What does it mean to deny yourself and how can we practically implement self-denial into our lives with God?

Ask yourself the following questions:

– Am I concerned with myself often?

– Do I feel bad for myself?

– Do I pity myself?

– Do I compare myself too much with others?

– Do I wait and wish for people to give me compliments?

– Do I never admit errors and wrongs?

– Do I always feel that others are wronging me?

If any of the above is true, then you are not denying yourself. How much of your life is focused on God and prayers, and how much of your life is focused on your earthly presence and image? Resist complaining, resist anger, resist comparison, resist jealousy, resist arguing, and resist judging others. If you truly desire to walk with God, deny yourself in such manner, and walk with Him daily.
