“And God, then, has thought from all eternity of creating this flower for love of me!” – Anonymous Saint
We are encouraged by Jesus Christ to live a life of wonder in our relationship with God. “Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?” (Jn 11:40). Little children naturally live in wonder and in awe of all the things they see and discover. As we grow older, we tend to lose this sense of wonder. In prayer and holiness however, we should aim to recover our sense of wonder, appreciation and admiration for all the amazing things God has done for us.
We can reflect and ponder deeply on scriptures, the lives of the saints and on nature created around us. A simple look around us shows us the beauty of this world and all that’s in it, made for our enjoyment! Let us not lose our child-like simplicity, and remain in wonder every day for all that is around us and all that has been given to us.
“Who is like You, O Lord, among the Gods? Who is like You, glorious in holiness, fearful in praise, doing wonders?” (Ex. 15:11)
