“I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life.” (Genesis 9:13-15)
The rainbow is a sign from God. After the Flood that caused destruction to the world, God made a covenant with Noah by means of a rainbow. It is a reminder of God’s promise with us, a covenant set between God and His people so that we can remember His consolation. The rainbow appears after rain and storm, as encouragement and hope after threatening afflictions. It is a sign of God’s mercy in the midst of wrath. The rainbow is a sign of God’s faithfulness, and a reminder to trust God during hard times. Although a storm might sweep through your city, a rainbow will appear after as a sign that the rain will not prevail. Similarly, the stormy seasons in our life will not prevail, and God’s rainbow will appear in our lives and bring with it peace and clear skies.
