A Contemplation Of David. A Prayer When He Was in the Cave. Do you ever feel like you are in a cave? Locked up in your own thoughts and worries?
I cry out to the LORD with my voice; With my voice to the LORD I make my supplication.
Like a baby cries for their parents, cry to the Lord with your requests for comfort.
I pour out my complaint before Him; I declare before Him my trouble.
Share with him your pain, your sorrow and all your troubles. He hears you and he knows and allows what you are going through for your ultimate benefit.
When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, Then You knew my path.
God knows when you are stressed, overwhelmed or afraid.
In the way in which I walk, They have secretly set a snare for me.
Many things might be persecuting you, including your own thoughts and doubts.
Look on my right hand and see, For there is no one who acknowledges me;
God knows when you are alone and scared.
Refuge has failed me; No one cares for my soul.
Sometimes we feel as if there is nobody around us to support us or help us.
I cried out to You, O LORD: I said, “You are my refuge, My portion in the land of the living.
Let God be your shelter. Let Him be your comforter. Let Him be your provider.
Attend to my cry, For I am brought very low;
God will hear you and help you no matter how low you think you are. He can take you out of the deepest pit and bring you back to the surface.
Deliver me from my persecutors, For they are stronger than I.
He will save you from those who persecute you and cause you trouble.
Bring my soul out of prison, That I may praise Your name;
Whenever our soul is is troubled, whenever we are sad or feeling melancholy, God can take us out of it as long as we praise His name.
The righteous shall surround me, For You shall deal bountifully with me.”
Our Lord deals with us with love and compassion, he cares for us deeply and will provide for our every need when we are weak and low.
